It was all started in 2009,when Andri (M.Andriansyah) and mbe(Syaiful F.F.) met.They decided to make a band which makes Blink 182, AVA, Motion City Soundtrack, Rocket Rockers as their influences.Then came Bewok(Jamal) joined the band as a bass player.And finally these 3 lucky kids (Andri on guitar and vocal, mbe on drum, and bewok on bass and vocal) started to draw a music. But honestly,their music was too "soundless",then what's on their minds first is,"yup,we need 1 more guitar player!!"
alip(alif nurhadian) came as a new member and fortunately they got an extra bonus, Yanes joined as a vocalist.Started with Papilon as their first band's name,these 5 kids (Andri on guitar, mbe on drum, Bewok on bass,Alip on guitar and Yanes on vocal) ready to get an attention with their first single,"Esok Pasti Berarti"!
But,this band has a problem,2 members of the band out.Began with Yanes and continued with Alip.So this problem was complex enough for them.Andri, Mbe and Bewok began (again) for searching a new member.
And lucky for them,they met with Aden.Aden joined with the band in 2010.Before that,Andri, Mbe and Bewok decided to change the band's name,they wanted a "catchy" and a "pretty" name for the band,so they chose FLY TO ASTORIA (FTA) as their band's name.
In October 2010, we have FTA with the new formation,along with the entry Abah(M.Ridwan.Setiawan) replacing bewok on Bass player position and the step out of Aden from FTA.
So here they are, FLY TO ASTORIA, with the strongest line up, Andri on Guitar/Vocal,Mbe on Drum and Abah on Bass,ready to get an attention again with their first single "Esok Pasti Berarti" and a pop punk smell.
